The Gay Culverhouse Players' Outreach Program, Inc. (GCPOP) is dedicated to helping former National Football League players in accessing healthcare and disability benefits to which they may be entitled, through education, technical assistance, emotional support, and financial aid.

GCPOP has spoken with various law firms and has contact information on the Other Resources page for a California law firm that assists people in this area.

If you need the exams to complete your benefit application forms, please call Mitchell Welch at 813-474-8382, he will assist you with scheduling at USF.  They are taking appointments over the summer.  Remember these are at no cost to the former players. 

Please check back for dates and times of upcoming meetings.  If you would like us to come to your meeting, please call us at 877-427-6744.  We have dates open this summer and planning for the fall has begun.  Currently, we are planning to attend meetings in Dallas, Houston, Jacksonville and Seattle.

Congressional Hearings & Testimony

Free assistance from GCPOP may include:

  • Determining the best benefits program the player is eligible for
  • Help in obtaining and completing the correct forms to apply for these programs
  • Locating the proper medical assistance needed
  • Payment (in some cases) for initial medical evaluation
  • Legal assistance
